1969 Mustang Mach 1 GT Big Block FE
Complete frame up 1969 Mach 1 restoration with a numbers matching Big Block FE Engine. Purchased in 2004 from private owner, this car has undergone a complete transformation into a street/strip work of art. Initially soda blasted down and then rebuilt from base metal to insure no residual rust or flaws. All panels and supports with any rust or damage were replaced to insure a rust free vehicle. The engine was professionally machined to 428cu standard and designed to produce a 600HP carbureted beast. The engine is a complete rebuild based on a SCAT rotating assembly H-Rods and Forged Pistons. The upper half is an Edelbrock Performer RPM (Manifold and Cylinder Heads) with an Edelbrock 800cfm Thunder AVS carburetor, Harland Sharp 1.76’ aluminum roller rockers, a Edelbrock performer camshaft, Edelbrock Water Pump and Holley Ford Fe 110 GPM fuel Pump. Only the very best racing parts were used to completely rebuild every aspect of this engine into a strip worthy racer including a Pioneer Racing Harmonic Balancer through the head bolts and complete Mr. Gasket replacement set. The oil pan is a custom built 8qt pan with high flow pump and pickup. The Radiator is a custom built 3 Core system with dual 12’ fans fabricated into the frame for exceptional cooling. The Headers are Hooker Super Comps attached to a three inch set of pipes creating a ferocious sound. The frame is designed over a Heidt’s Mustang 11 front end and nine point rear with coil over springs and 12 inch Wilwood Power Brakes all around. Steel braided and hand bent solid steel lines are used throughout the power brake system. Steering provided by Flaming River rack and pinion steering attached to a Flaming River brushed aluminum column. The transmission is a Tremec TKO 600 with Hurst 5 Speed Shifter and custom made drive shaft to control the power. Centerforce Dual Friction 11’ Clutch and 184T Flywheel are housed within a bulletproof, race certified bell housing. The rear end is a Strange S-Series with 31-Spine Track Lock 9” C-Section with 3.70 Ratio and Strange S/S Racing Axles. The wiring is based on a Painless 1969 Mustang Wiring Harness, a Davis Unified Distributor, a PWM HD 140 Amp Alternator and an Optima Red Top Battery housed in the trunk for improved weight distribution. Interior completely redone, but with the intention of keeping the cars appearance as close to original as possible, while having all the modern comforts. Auto Meter Gauges, with RPM light for racing, AM/FM Stereo with MP3 player and custom Old Air Products Air Conditioner to make it comfortable. Every light within and outside vehicle have been replaced and are in great working order. Dyna mat lining for heat and sound control, all seats with custom cushion replacement and Grant steering wheel on Flaming River brushed aluminum column alongside a Hurst T-Shifter. 3PT safety belts have been installed in the front seats. Stainless Steel Gas Tank and front to rear metal lines for all fluids provide for both great looks and safety. The underside has been spray coated for looks and longevity. Every piece of weather-stripping has been replaced and works well. All exterior Fascia to include grill and lights have been replaced. Bottom line, this car was an eight year labor of love in which I invested well over 70k (all booked, documented and done by professional mechanics and restoration specialists) with the intention of creating a car capable of handling both the highway and strip and looking very good doing it. I have no pressing need to sell the vehicle, but now that it is complete I am onto a 67 rebuild with my son. I am happy to provide a complete listing of all parts included in this vehicle to any potential buyer. All parts and labor are documented and booked for purchasers review.
